I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

p.s.  When I click on the "share" icon how do i control which page it goes to?

Your facebook-dot-com image is your Newsfeed where you go when you click on Home in the blue bar.  Your facebook-pattiefishicon image is your Timeline where you go when you click on your name in the blue bar.  However... neither one is just a single page, more like a category of things.  Facebook does not do simple pages like we usually do.  They take your request, whatever you clicked on, and build a page about it.  If you look at the source for your Facebook page you will see that it is mostly javascript that is used to create the page display and update it frequently.

When you click on 'Share', you are 'sharing to your Timeline (facebook-pattiefishicon) and usually your Newsfeed facebook-dot-com image.  You don't control which page it goes to unless you select "Share to a friend".

A very simple minded example of the idea is at .  It is only one 'page' and all the content in the middle is loaded with AJAX / javascript when you click on a 'link' at the left.  The auto-complete example on the right is also AJAX / javascript connecting to a PHP page that returns info from a database.

I want to delete the personal facebook page  and only have the professional one ( ) but I don't know if that is possible.  The reason is that there is very limited activity on my professional account and I want to boost it.  Is that possible to eliminate the personal page? I know I will lose contacts.
Dave BaldwinFixer of ProblemsCommented:
I'm not sure but I think you have to have a personal page to have the business page.  Notice that on the business page, there is no place for 'Friends'?  You can not have the same kind of activity on the business page.  All they can do is 'Like' your page.
nsitedesignsAuthor Commented:
So I have to have them like both pages?  My friends on the business page is pretty small.
Dave BaldwinFixer of ProblemsCommented:
You don't have 'Friends' on the business page, you only have people who have 'liked' that page.  Those two things and pages work differently.
