Cannot find emails in exchange 2010 personal archives

I just enabled personal archives on two users.  The personal archive has shown up in OWA but I can't find any emails in it.  The retention is set to 1 year on the inbox for these two users and I see the archive growing.

I tried searching for emails but nothing shows up.

I'm looking at the inbox now and it still shows emails from 2013.  I've waited about 45 minutes but still no emails and the archive database keeps growing.  Do I have to wait until it finishes archiving all the emails?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Have you checked again today?  Sometimes it does take time for the system to finish moving and then indexing the contents of a new archive mailbox when the original mailbox is very large.

When opening an archive file in OWA, there's a bit of a trick that had me kind of stumped when I first did it.  If you click on the top level folder, you don't see the subfolders or anything.  You have to click on the little caret symbol next to the top level folder name to expand the list of subfolders before you can see anything. IOW, it doesn't expand automatically.  Could that be the problem?
