printing from an ipad air to a networked printer

Hi I have an ipad and am trying to configure it to print at a network printer. The printer is an  Hp PSC 2400 series all in one printer.

I had some software over a year ago to successfully print to that printer with an iphone but I dont remember the name of the program and I no longer have the iphone to get the name of the app. So does anyone know any good software to allow me to connect the ipad to a network printer?

Usually you need a printer that is airprint enabled:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201387

Otherwise software you can try printer pro pro printer pro lite:

You don't need an airprint printer.  You can print from an iPad to ANY printer that has an IP address on your local network by installing Airprint (which is free) on one of the computers on your network.   The caveat is that you can only print from the iPad when that computer (the one on which you've installed airprint) is running.

You can download airprint from the link on this page:

http://www.airprintactivation.com/

However, I wouldn't follow their instructions, as it looks to me like they won't work for IOS 5 and above.  Instead, once you've installed airprint.exe in the appropriate folder, you'd issue the commands:

sc.exe create AirPrint binPath= “C:\Program Files\AirPrint\airprint.exe -R _ipp._tcp,_universal -s” depend= “Bonjour Service” start= auto

sc.exe start Airprint

(Note that for the first command, if you put airprint in a different folder, you'd use the path to that folder rather than the one shown in the command.)   Pay close attention to the spacing in the command.

at this point , you should now be able to see a list of your shared printers from your ipad (by trying to print something from the iPad)

If you don’t see any lock icon next to the printer name, then you’re good to go .

If you see a lock icon next to the printer name, make sure you enable the guest account in windows

Once you enable the guest account , restart the Airprint service and you should be able to print from your iPad.

There is nothing you need to install on the iPad to get this to work.
