Exchange 2013 - DAG

Hi guys,

Quick question about setting up a DAG on Exchange 2013, i've got 2 mailbox servers, both have an additional NIC and have IP settings configured as follows:

MBX01 - 192.168.1.1
MBX02 - 192.168.1.2

I've unticked register in DNS and haven't assigned a default gateway.

In the ECP web page when setting up the DAG in there do I need to assign that a new address? i.e 192.168.1.3 and add the mailbox servers into the list of servers.

Just I tried using the same IP addresses and it said they were already in use so a bit confused thats all.

Hope that makes sense :)

Thanks so much

It is explained about DAG network here
http://exchangeserverpro.com/misconfigured-subnets-exchange-2013-dag-network/

I suggest you configure DAG again using this article
http://exchangeserverpro.com/installing-an-exchange-server-2013-database-availability-group/

If you are talking about ip address for the DAG. You can manually assign DAg ip. if not it will take from DHCP

Hi there, i've checked and do not have anything misconfigured so it looks fine but the cluster won't come online.

When running a test-replicationhealth I get the following:

Quorum resource 'Cluster Group' is not online on server 'mbx02'. Database availability group 'DAG' might not be reachable or may have lost redundancy. Error:
Cluster IP Address: Failed
Cluster Name: Offline
is offline. Please verify that the Cluster service is running on the server.

The service is running on MBX01 and MBX02..

It seems there is some connectivity issue between servers.
Can you make sure connectivity is ok

If connectivity is ok

It's a weird one cause they can see each other, only thing that has suddenly come to my mind is the DAG subnet is different to the MAPI subnet. Will that cause issues? When running database copies I keep on getting this.

WARNING: Seeding of content index catalog for database 'SG01' failed. Please verify that the Microsoft Search
(Exchange) and the Host Controller service for Exchange services are running and try the operation again. Error: The
seeding operation failed. Error: An error occurred while performing the seed operation. Error: An error occurred while
updating the search catalog files from server 'MBX01.domain.local' to 'MBX01.domain.local'. Error: A transient
exception from Exchange Search was encountered. Error: -1..

But then after about 15-20 mins all the storage groups show as healthy and the passive copies show as healthy too.... definitely a weird one. I have CU5 installed of Exchange 2013 SP1 because when trying to update any further the domain functional level needs to be increased from 2003 to 2008 which we just cannot do due to still having  windows 2003 servers and a child domain with windows 2000 desktops.

Fixed it, set the DAG IP to be in the same subnet as the mailbox servers and not the DAG addresses, working a treat now! Thanks for your help anyway :)
