"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Give the printer an IP address and modify it through the web interface, login using the default password.

If this fails set it up locally and modify the tray/page settings, also consider upgrading the firmware on this device.
You need to make sure that the attributes of the print request match the printer configuration.

Print requests usually select the media (paper) source using a combination of one or more of:

Paper size - e.g. A4 or Letter
Paper type - e.g. Plain (default) or Letterhead
Paper source tray identifier - identifiers differ depending on which Page Description Language (e.g. PCL5, PCL XL, PostScript) is used by the printer driver.

If the source tray identifier is not present, or specifies 'printer auto-select', then the tray is selected using the size and type only.

The printer itself needs to know what paper it has in each of its trays, in order to satisfy the incoming print requests.

With most commercial LaserJet printers, the paper size is detected automatically by sensors attached to the paper width and length guides in the cassette trays.
The paper type usually has to be set explicitly, via the printer front panel menus, or Embedded Web Server, or Toolbox equivalents.

The menus (or equivalents) should provide an option via which you can print off configuration page(s) to show the current paper to tray configuration.
