jQuery drop down menu in mobile not collapsing parent item on toggle

I am using the a Responsive jQuery multi level drop down menu which works very nice. Here is my test page where you can see it.

http://cotinthenet.com/drafts/menu.html

but the only problem I am facing is in the mobile side when one parent level is clicked the other parent level does not close. Basically looking for Accordion type behavior.

here is my code

    <script type="text/javascript">
        jQuery(document).ready(function ($) {

            var $menu = $('#menu'),
              $menulink = $('.menu-link'),
              $menuTrigger = $('.has-submenu > a');

            $menulink.click(function (e) {
                e.preventDefault();
                $menulink.toggleClass('active');
                $menu.toggleClass('active');
            });

            $menuTrigger.click(function (e) {
                e.preventDefault();
                var $this = $(this);
                $this.toggleClass('active').next('ul').toggleClass('active');
            });

        });
</script>

I used this as a snippet on your site and it worked for me:

$('.has-submenu > a').on('click', function() {
    $(this).parents('li').siblings().removeClass('active').find('ul,a').removeClass('active');
})
