vb.net VS 2015 using databinding and saving changes

i really hope this is just a knowing which screw to turn problem.

i am doing an options page for a larger project.

the plan is to put a bunch of boolean options on the screen (checkboxes) that use databinding (set in databindings ->advanced-> Data Source Update Mode
all i have right now is 1 field with a check box

it runs this piece of code ... which fills up the dataset, and populates the value of the checkbox with the data in the dataset.  reading it works ok
Private Sub Form1_Load(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
'TODO: This line of code loads data into the 'CtDataSet.CProfile' table. You can move, or remove it, as needed.

    End Sub

i was *** ASSUMING ***  that setting the Data Source Update Mode to OnPropertyChanged would update the underlying databind...
apparrently i was wrong.

what does " Data Source Update Mode to OnPropertyChanged " mean.... and how do i update the changes of the checkboxes if it is not with that setting.

Datasource in this case is your dataset/datatable. You need to call the update method on tableadapter to send changes back to your database.

ok, so what is the point of the setting?

the datasource update mode...

is it to indicate where i put my update method?...  in this case... put it in on property changed?...

but why would i need a setting for that?...   why wouldnt i just put it there anyway.

just confused.
Data source in this context is your datatable/dataset. That setting justs means that the datatable value will be updated as soon as OnPropertyChange event fires (internal stuff). You then need to push those changes to database using tableadapter.update method.
