Hyper V Windows 2008 SP1

Good Morning,

I have one Windows 2008 SP1 Server which hosts multiple virtual machines.  All vms are working as they should but one is causing many problems.  Over the space of five minutes this server loses its connection to the network ranging between 3 and four pings.  All other hosts are working as normal.  The problematic server is a Windows 2008 R2 SERVER.

Cheers

Does the Hyper-V host have any errors in the Event Logs especially in the Hyper-V section?

Hi Philip,

The only thing that appears in the event log for Hyper V on the host is shown below:

Device 'VMBus' in 'Guest Server' cannot load because it is incompatible with visualization. stack.  Server version 13 client version 65537.

I believe this error can be ignored from what I can see.  This is only happening to one of the virtual machines and it drops about four ping packets every 10mins.  Very strange.

Cheers

Is the host 2008 RTM fully up to date?

Integration Services on the 2008 R2 would be out of sync due to the guest OS being newer.

Broadcom Gigabit NICs on the host? Disable Virtual Machine Queues (VMQ) in the advanced properties of _each_ physical port.
