First: Intel, Second: Intel and Third: Intel. Trouble free and top performance.

I use an Intel N-6205. When I buy a laptop, I choose Intel over the OEM brand, and then choose the fastest or one of the fastest that the vendor offers.  N-6205 is no long the newest, but mine is very reliable and the one before in my retired ThinkPad T61p (forget the model) was also excellent.

I use a number of different wireless setups in my travels and the Intel performs really well and is trouble free.

If you want an internal NIC and your laptop's motherboard supports it, I'd go with a Intel 7265 WLAN card.

If you want an external USB NIC, go with the Asus USB-AC56.
