Outlook 2013 IMAP not receiving anymore

A Windows 7 64bit user computer (Dell Optiplex 7010) running Office 2013, configured to access its mail via IMAP,  suddenly stopped receiving emails.
The webmail interface works perfectly and emails are clearly flowing correctly (in & out)
I deleted the Outlook profile and recreated it : exactly the same result
I checked for the presence of troublesome Windows update fixes: none found
I installed Thunderbird and that works perfectly, but of course, they don't want Thunderbird, they want Outlook !
any ideas ?

Do you have the option to purge deleted messages? I think it's on the ribbon under folder.
Yann ShukorOwnerAuthor Commented:
The "remove messages when changing folder" is enabled

what happens when you do control + click the Outlook icon in your icon tray? test connection, any errors?

Well in fact the issue was apparently bandwidth related
The client's modem hadn't been rebooted in a while and instead of having the habitual 6.5 Mbps they only had 0.9 Mbps
Once rebooted Outlook began receiving properly again
What's weird is that the other computers using Thunderbird didn't experience the same issues
