Physical to Hyper-V - Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter 3.0 - How long does it take?

Hello,

I have an SBS2008 physical server, about 1TB of disk that I want to virtualise onto Hyper-V.

The Hyper-V server is connected over a GB LAN to the physical SBS.

Any idea how long the conversion takes using the MVMC tool?

Many thanks

It depends on many things, speed of source disks, speed of destination disks, speed of network.

All conversions are not FAST, it's a data move.

Just looking for a rough timescale.

Has anybody carried out this process before?

Yes, we 've done it many times, we do it many times a week.

But we don't time it or care how long it takes...however, if you are concerned about downtime, the Microsoft FREE tool is the wrong tool to use...

I can tell you more...

looking back in our logs and tests, it would take our equipment, 23 hours.

Andrew,

You must have a rough idea of timescale based on the information I have provided?

4 hours? a day? 2 days?
