Server 2012 freezes at random times

2 month old server 2012 new installation which has been perfect. Over the last couple of days we are experiencing server lockouts for short periods of times. The even viewer shows 1058 Group policy error at the same time as the freeze out. Any ideas?

Hi,

Try to edit the group policy for the server , type gmpc.msc and edit the policy for that server, look for any script that may be running from group policy & from scheduled tasks.

post back!

On a nslookup 192.168.0.59 is showing as the DNS server when the server address is 192.168.0.102. Using an advanced IP scanner is showing the server name on the 2 IP addresses. In the DHCP scope options 192.168.0.59 is showing as RAS?
Turned off Routing and Remote and now ping to 192.168.0.59 replies as 192.168.0.102 and nslookup is IP 6 address
Silly one but if a user is in the office and uses the VPN to access the server would this cause this loop?
this is OK since you RAS installed as a role..
try my suggestions..
not loop, but if he is using RDP  or remote profile then GPO is applied , try to remove this user from the gpo, log off and then log on again and see if the freeze still occurs..
This is very coincidental as he is normally never in the office until last night and today and was logging on at the freeze out times. .59 is the address it assigns to his PC on RAS so I am going to check the GPO as requested and review I think
DNS replication was showing an error too as DNS on the server was set to 127.0.0.1. I have now corrected this to the proper server IP and the DNS has replicated. I am wondering if this was at fault too?
did you try setting an ip address thay is out of dhcp scope or excluded? try it..
