i would first try another known-good modem to determine if it is a device specific issue. this may also reveal if the line got any signal / noise issue.

When sending a fax it begins to send and gets through 2 pages of 9 and then I get message "The remote fax machine did not respond in time" and terminates the call.  This happens pretty much on any multiple page document that is being faxed.  Anyone have any ideas?
