How do I get rid of the "Get Windows 10" Icon

About 4 days ago, this odd looking icon popped up and I have not been able to get rid of it. Tried several suggested fixes on online, but nothing works. Also just tried hiding the icon, but it just comes back the next day. Yuck!

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Open the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and terminate the GWX (or GWXUX) process.  (this kills it temporarily . . . will show up on next reboot)

Permanent fix:
Head to Control Panel > Windows Update.
On the left, choose Installed updates. If you don't see this option, click View installed updates, and a link to Installed updates should appear at the top of the window.
Remove the update with the label with the label Update for Microsoft Windows KB3035583. It's easiest to sort by name to find it.
You will need to skip this particular update by right-clicking and hiding it when you install other future updates.

I tried both fixes yesterday and succeeded in completing them. The icon went away.

When I viewed my computer this morning, the icon was back. I just completed the fixes again and now the icon is gone again. How is the update being made so that the icon reappears?
Kyle AbrahamsSenior .Net DeveloperCommented:
Do you have updates to install automatically?  After you uninstall and reboot it, go to the windows update and try to hide it so that it prevents it from installing again.

I checked to see how I have updates scheduled. I found they were automatically installed which was not what I thought I had. I have since changed it back to allowing me to choose whether or not to download.

By "hide" do you mean remove? That's what you suggested in your first email.
Kyle AbrahamsSenior .Net DeveloperCommented:
Correct . . . remove it from the list.  You should now not be prompted to update it and the icon shouldn't appear.

Microsoft...BAD PUPPY!!!

Every time I update Windows 7, Microsoft re-installs their sales add for Windows 10.

There ought to be a law against that!

In the list of available updates, right-click any update that you don’t want to see again, and choose Hide Update. If you later change your mind—or if you just want to see a list of the updates you’ve chosen to hide—on the main Windows Update page, click Restore Hidden Updates.

Remove the update with the label with the label Update for Microsoft Windows KB3035583, and then hide it using the instructions above.
Starbuck67Author Commented:
I already removed Microsoft Windows KB3035583 again per instructions above. I am unclear about how you would still see this in the list of available updates.
Kyle AbrahamsSenior .Net DeveloperCommented:
Go to windows update, search for updates.  Select view updates so you'll be given a list of updates about to install.  You can hide the KB3035583.
