Contacts Added to Lync groups are not being saved

Hi I am having an issue where Lync client 2013 is not saving contacts that are being added.
Any changes I make  are not saved (aside from deleting people from Favourites). Changes I’ve tried are
•      Adding people to a group
•      Creating a new group and adding people to it
•      Adding people to favourites
•      Adding people from the default favourites to a group
In no cases did any of these changes stick the next time I logged in.

I’ve signed out, deleted the sign in info, restarted my pc then signed in again and this made no difference. The contacts are not being saved. Any ideas?

Is this just 1 user or all users in your deployment?
Did you try deleting the Lync folder from the user profile (C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync)?
What is the 'personal information manager' is set to under Lync options > personal?
