Exchange 2013 delivery failure notification to receiver

Hello,

I have a customer who needs to get notified when e-mail is sent to them, that exceeds their receive limit, sort of a NDR to the receiver instead of the sender.

Is this possible ?

The customer is using Exchange 2013

If it is not possible, how does other companies handle this situation, does anyone know of a 3 party application or cloud service that could handle this ?

the short answer is what systechadmin said.

How office 365 deals with it is they bump that limit to 150mb per message and 50GB per mailbox (so you won't hit that limit at all)

As a creative way, you can monitor NDR code

5.2.3 Message too large
5.2.2 Mailbox full
5.3.4 Message too big for system

AND then turn on NDR forwarding to postmaster mailbox
and include the additional NDR code.

Really, the chance of not receiving an email is not your fault, it is sender fault. But i believe some one high enough want to know what happen. so as an admin, you need to monitor those NDR reports.

TIPS: you might want to do rule and alert on the postmaster mailbox if you see a NDR that worth an Admin to look into it? :)
