Drag Relative Cell references

HI - I need to be able to drag a formula DOWN a column and have the formula increment the COLUMN reference but freeze the ROW reference.

So the formula in A1 reads =B1
I need A2 to be =C1
I need A3 to be =D1

I should know how to do this but it is escaping me...

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

you can copy A1 to A3 range then right click on B1 and click Paste Special then tick mark the box "Transpose" then it will do the job.

further to my answer ID: 40814414

you can also do the following

Select B1:C1 meaning from B1 to C1 and then while cells are selected then press F2 the first cell will go into the edit mode and then type  =TRANSPOSE(A1:A3) then press Control + Shift + Enter

it will also give same result as  ID: 40814414
