what makeup item would you introduce first for 65 year old (in 3rd world country) who has never used makeup in life before..

as part of missions trip, few people are going in near south east asia.. (near equator).. the school principal is a 65 year old lady, hard working, and ceiling fans are luxury in these places. what makeup item would be a suit for her, would you feel, as the first item to encourage her and compliment her skin to keep more fresh etc.,

a lipstick or such kind may be a big jump and not needful.. but I am looking small practical things (makeup items related) that can be a good introduction to skin care that has not been available so far for them (based on availability, education and also economics)

I am told the only make up they wear (and just about anyone in those areas- men and women included ) is talcum powder.

thanks for any tips.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Why make-up?  For someone who doesn't use it why inflict it on them?
Once provided would you be responsible for ensuring a continued supply?
Would it be better to ask what they would like?

good point. yes, seems like there will be regular missions trip ongoing..

so, the supply could be provided.. as needed.. also the main idea to give something related to skin care that can help with the intense heat that is in that part of the country
that they may not have otherwise.. this person has done so much good for orphans and homeless that we were considering this aspects.. many other goodies are also being flown in to their gospel mission campus, but this is one thing that we could use input.. related to skin care.. that does not seem luxury related but more practical (&helpful in the long run)..

Many Western woman over use makeup. Have you ever seen Oprah Winfrey without makeup? Don't look.

Some go for cherry red lipstick which is not that attractive. On lipstick maybe a light color. Asians should not have eyebrows that need tending with shadow.

Sometimes less really IS more.  The heat and humidity of Asia can cause makeup to just melt off your face. I found a good light moisturizer with sunscreen and wore a little waterproof mascara and dusting of face powder. Beef up the face cream, forget the powder and drink lots of water.

Here is juts another opinion: no.
If the lady never used makeup until now at 65, then except for fun one time, will not use it from now on. Depending by her personality, local habits and culture it may seem something strange or even offending - you must check out this. Will be helpful to know what region of the world is this, as precisely as possible and check the local culture. Then you may read and ask on internet, in case you do not have yet a contact direct there, about what brings value and appreciation as a gift for a 65 year old lady, even if will be considered as exotic from modern world. Do not guess relying only on general feminine wishes from your world. Try to understand the people from there and what is valuable in their eyes.
