Documents related Sharepoint 2013 365 Questions


Just some document related sharepoint questions for 2013 on Office365:

1. if we add document libraries to a site (or subsite).  Can we have links to them on different sites to share them with other users?  I know whe can share them using the share functionality but we wanted something a little more definted

2. Can you move a document library between sites if needed?  Can you move groups of selected documents to different sites or libraries without losing meta data?

3. Is the mobile web browser the only means of accessing the documents in sharepoint?  Is there any way to utilized the onedrive syncing for faster access?

1. You can add hyperlinks to anything in navigation or on pages. No problem, just make sure the folks have permission to access the site.
2. To bulk move and maintain metadata you need a tool such as Metalogix Content Matrix.
3. It is possible to sync libraries to PC via Onedrive;

3.   Would about tablets/mobile phones?  does this work as well using an app on the device?

The exact compatibility of onedrive is listed on the website.  It will depend on what the device is.

Hi Posae,

1) You can use a content type called "Link to a a document" in the destination library or list. When you add this content type it will allow you to add links to your document library or list.

2) To move an entire document library between sites, you could use the send to feature on a document by document basis. You could create a move to feature of your own using SharePoint designer or use a third party tool such as Metalogix or Sharegate

3) There is an app called Shareplus that lets you view entire sites on mobile devices
