Visual Studio 2015 download

I have an MSDN Ultimate subscription and would like to download Visual Studio 2015, but there are so many options, I'm not sure which option to download.

I am currently running Windows 7 Pro on a 64 bit Del Optiplex 3010 with , but will probably be installing this on either a Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 VM operating on this computer.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Depending on your needs, your best options are "Visual Studio Enterprise 2015 RC (x86) - Web Installer (English)" for the web installer or "Visual Studio Enterprise 2015 RC (x86) - DVD (English)" for the full installer.

You don't need expensive MSDN subscription to download VS 2015 today but remember the fact VS 2015 is still not finalized and the possible necessity to reinstall it after the final version will come.

You may look at edition comparison here: https://www.visualstudio.com/products/compare-visual-studio-2015-products-vs or here: https://www.visualstudio.com/vs-2015-product-editions

Everything depends on your needs. Do you plan team development? Do you plan automated testing of your applications?

Even the free community version will give you sufficient tools to develop applications as a sole developer.

@Eric,

Thanks for the info.

@pcelba,

Thanks for the additional link, I didn't realize that it had not gone final.

you should be aware that visual studio is a 32-bit application despite its capability to building 64-bit programs.

so, as long as you are not going for the newest hardware and web-programming all versions since vs2010 would be a good choice and sometimes the elder versions have less issues especially when dealing with existing projects.
