Windows Backup Service Error

Hi All,

I am having an issue that just started to occur where I am getting the following error when I run a Windows System State Backup:

The backup operation attempted at '‎2015‎-‎06‎-‎08T14:52:41.145226400Z' has failed to start, error code '2155348089' (Error while preparing the backup. Internal error: Windows Backup cannot create the diff area file on the volume specified to store the backup.). Please review the event details for a solution, and then rerun the backup operation once the issue is resolved.

When I use "wbadmin start systemstatebackup -backuptarget:D: -quiet" in the command prompt I get the following error message:

Internal error: Windows Backup cannot create the diff area file on the volume specified to store the backup. The specified backup storage location has the shadow copy storage on another volume.

I am not sure what occurred but it just stopped working (its bee working just fine for a year) .

I tried the recommendations in the article and I get the same error

So the volumes listed in vssuirun interface are correct? Have you checked all volumes including MSR?

Thank you for your help. I decided to try the what the article was saying again and everything started to work. I am not sure why it did not work yesterday, but I was able to do a system state backup successfully this morning

Thank you for feedback. I was puzzled after your previous comment and was able to reproduce and fix the problem on my own 2008R2 system. :)
