I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You need to create a new computer policy and enable Object Access in the policy. You then need to link the GPO to the OU where the machines are located. Once you have done that you need to login to the server, right click on the directory you want to audit, select properties, click the security tab, advance button, object access.

You then need to configure what user or group you want to audit and save the changes.

Windows Sysinternals is a free suite of tools downloadable from the Microsoft Technet website. It includes tools that allow you to manage open files on your server.
