I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Incase you are doing development on local machine then weblogic component is not required. As the Oracle Forms&Reports will have an in-built server which could run and display the content of the form/report how it looks like on your local machine itself.

However if you are serving it as a host to other machine then as a server you would need weblogic server(earlier this was a separate component as forms server) now its bundled into weblogic server itself..
NiceMan331Author Commented:
yes wasim , i'm using it for my local machine only
so , i should not install web logic server , correct ?
any other requirement needed ?

I'm missing something.  Your snapshot suggests an Oracle Fusion (middleware) installation -- nothing to do with developer.  Then again, are you implying SQL*Developer (GUI interface to a database instance, unrelated to Forms) or perhaps JDeveloper (GUI interface to coding)?

May I ask, which source are you following for the installation steps?
NiceMan331Author Commented:
actually i'm using forms 6i
but as per the advice of johnson here
i 'm looking now for developper tools only , forms & reports , nothing more , even sql developer , because i'm using toad
i searched first the installation guide , i found this article
and i followed
i m i right or wrong ?

You need to install developer suite to make forms and reports work on local machine. You don't need a server version for local. I can post the exact link some time tomorrow as I am now on mobile. But got something for you to have a look in the mean while.

Developer suite(form builder) is different from Form server. Same applirs yo reports too

Ok , I'll wait for you tomorrow

Just now i had referred to installation of Oracle Forms11g,(Forms 10g, you simply install the builder and that's enough for you to develop forms along with its build in OC4J server.), From 11, it seems that Oracle Weblogic server component is mandatory for the installation...

You need Java 64bit, Oracle Weblogic server as pre-requisites

. Not sure why Oracle has made it mandatory for builder to have install weblogic.. !!!! Anyhow..!!

I found a website which has detailed steps in installation with screenshots. I think it will helpful to guide you through the installation process as a whole..

refer to the steps here
NiceMan331Author Commented:
if you means forms 10g not required web logic server
it will be good for me
can you give me the correct file to download
Wasim Akram ShaikCommented:
Yes for 10g its not needed(10g developer suite)

The only pre-requisite is to download the minimum java version

After installation the jdk component, get the installation from oracle site, depending on your OS

and the installation(for windows) is a simple GUI(if you are on XP then you need some virtual memory requirements)

This would not be needed mostly if you are  on Windows 7.
NiceMan331Author Commented:
so , no much difference between 11g & 10 g ?
if yes , i will use 10g
if no , i have to install 11g
then , where to find : jdk-6u22-windows-i586.exe

I don't believe 10g is available for download anymore since Support for it ended a long time ago.

I would suggest you move to something supported since you are moving from 6i to a "current" version.

Why move from desupported to desupported?

Back to the original question.

I would follow the installation guide:

It's there in the last link you posted yourself.. Select First option .. Oracle Developer suite including designer and forms.. Its up to you to go for version.. Its always good to go for current version as Steve suggested.. Though 10g would work if you are only looking for development..!!!
NiceMan331Author Commented:
If 10 g desuported now , so I did nothing if I download it , so , better 11 g ? Who agree ? And which file I would select to download ?
Wasim Akram ShaikCommented:
NiceMan331Author Commented:

The only Free Oracle is Express Edition for the database and tools like SQL Developer.

Oracle has a decent developer and education license:
