I'm taking part in a national study, ASCEND. Up to now we have had a paper form to fill in quarterly. However they are now rolling out a secure form. They provide a URL to type into the browser which is:-

This works fine but I'm puzzled about what protocol/mechanism is being used to deliver this. Can anyone advise me?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Type in http://www.ascend.report  and (a) it works and (b) it takes you to:

http://www.ctsu.ox.ac.uk/ascend/form.html     (I just did all this).

Any "URL" today usually assumes 'WWW" to be part of it.

Looks normal and is just a friendly redirection to your intended site.

Thanks John. My confusion was how is ascend.report getting translated to ctsu.ox.ac.uk/ascend/form.html, as soon as you said redirect I realised that .report is now a GTLD?
