Office 265 Migration Question

We are about to migrate to 365 for exchange.  Our current environment is a 2003 standard box with exchange 2007 standard.  We would like to build a VPN to MS and sync AD until we're ready to decommission the server.  My questions are;

1. How long would a 35 gig database take to migrate?  Does MS throttle.
2. Is it difficult to work with MS to build the tunnel and AD sync?

Thank you!

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Office 365 and VPN? Don't think so. But the traffic is SSL encrypted anyway?
There's no throttling, however, exporting/importing is usually a somewhat slow process. It's the processing, not the bandwidth perse. A full day is my estimate (if upload speed on your side is up to par).

This is what we are planning on doing.

Anyone?

Dirsync does not make full copies of your AD partitions, it only syncs some objects. There are companies out there syncing hundreds of thousands of users, I'm sure you will manage too.
