What is an NDK ?

I am having trouble with Embarcadero C++ builder XE8 recognising my android device on a new PC and a new installation of C++ builder XE8.
I have spent the last 4 weeks evaluating RAD Studio XE8 to develop Android apps and have had no such problems with the evaluation copy so I'm sure that the device is OK.
The newly installed C++ builder XE8 on a new machine also installed an Android SDK and NDK as part of the Embarcadero installation. One thing that may or may not be relevant is that after registering the product with embarcadero but before trying to deploy an android app I changed the Computer name. When the compiler was next run I was prompted to re-register it and re-compiling code gave an error message that the Android SDK was not installed and I elected to have the compiler automatically install it. I am wondering if I need to re-install the NDK whatever that is ?
The PC is a virtual machine and I have a snapshot of the machine prior to the compiler installation so I may just roll-back and start over but it takes about 3 hours to fully install the compiler so if possible a alternative would be preferable.

The NDK is a developer toolkit that is often used in developing apps for Android.  The NDK is not required and most apps don't use it.

If you've got a checkpoint where you can roll back, that's probably the easiest, though Embarcadero (Borland) products often have a reinstall or repair feature in the installer.

Good Luck,

The problem tuned out to be the USB driver for the Android device needed updating. I didn't need to re-install anything else.
