Tsgiannis and Andreas,

Thanks for your input, the PC is in a network but I am looking at more for home usage only.

My PC came to a point where it was infected by malware.

Irritating pop-ups and webpages opened without me clicking.

In Firefox I have adblocker, but the Malware was just too strong.

Sometimes, when installing programs, that is when I think they hijack the software and got installed together.

I have not done any backups as I am not sure what backup is suitable for my home PCs and also because, I have a lot of data that all HDD are nearly full.

My PC is also very slow when it runs Win 7 Pro.

My parents used the same PC but I am not sure if they know what they are clicking that is another worry. The slow PC also makes them impatient.

I do patch the Windows every now and then when prompted.

I am not sure the D-Link DIR 868L provided by my ISP has a firewall.

The antivirus that we have is an AVG free.

I also have malwarebytes installed due to two attacks.

Adblocker, noscript and sandbox will they affect websurfing?

So I have to get an antivirus like Panda and a Paragon backup.

I have changed all accounts to Standard User including mine and added two administrator accounts one with an easy password and one with a password that only I know.

Anything else I may have left out?

Like you suggested, I will reinstall the whole Windows OS, but I will have to buy an SSD first as my current WD 500GB hard disk is slow and also I need to change it to a 64-bit as 32-bit is really slow to run

Hi! Rindi,

I have $GB of RAMS installed, just can't remember how many slots.

I thought Windows 7 32-Bit only uses maximum 2GB RAM.

So I thought if I change my OS to Windows 7 64-bit, it will use all my 4GB RAM which will in turn run the software faster.

Furthermore, with a SSD hard disk, the performance will be even greater, am I right?

Anti-virus software was originally developed to detect and remove computer viruses. However, with the proliferation of other kinds of malware, antivirus software started to provide protection from other computer threats. In particular, modern antivirus software can protect from malicious browser helper objects (BHOs), browser hijackers, ransomware, keyloggers, backdoors, rootkits, trojan horses, worms, malicious layered service providers (LSPs), dialers, fraud tools, adware and spyware. Some products also include protection from other computer threats, such as infected and malicious URLs, spam, scam and phishing attacks, online identity theft (privacy), online banking attacks, social engineering techniques, Advanced Persistent Threat (APT), botnets and DDoS attacks.
