I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I would get the other ASA5506 on line first with a base config and then begin to back up your 5505 and configure the 5506 by using the 5505's config as a template. The main reason is that there is  a difference in the feature sets as well as interfaces. It shouldn't take more than an hour to configure once the 5506 is online with a base config.
