Intranet sites on Android devices

Hello,

I'm launching an internal app on 'http://application' and I have an issue where Android devices cannot open the link. I'm able to open on other devices(laptops, iphones). Androids are on the same subnet as other but no luck. I tried to add the internal DNS server manually but still no go. Is there a workaround for this issue? The website is running on IIS 8.0 on a 2012 server. There are multiple websites on that server. None of them are working on Android.

Thank you!

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

OK, I made it work by getting to the site over the IP address. Any way I can work around this and actually make it accessible by name? DNS doesn't really work. Host name or anything else?

Thanks again!

To load a local page off the intranet on android I use my wi-fi connection. Type ipconfig into a command line on your server and look for "IPv4 Address". (In my case it was 192.168.1.64). Type this  ip into the address bar on your browser in android and it will be the same as using 'localhost' as an address from a desktop.

To access it by name I make the  internal server public by enabling the DMZ and setting an entry in the DNS. (I use apache so I am not sure how you would do this in IIS).
