Iphone 5C no sound over cellular calling

Hi i have an iPhone 5C the unit recently developed and issue where i cannot hear the party i called and they cannot hear me, however when i make a FaceTime video & audio call everything works fine so that rules out mic & speaker issue. I updated to latest IOS and erased and restored to factory still same issue. Several cold boots and normal reboot did nothing. Has anyone had any success with this problem please help. I did google it and others have ran into this problem but i can't seem to find any valid solutions.

There are physical volume control buttons (up / down) on the side of the phone that controls phone volume. Are you sure you have these turned UP ?  Then check sound in the General Settings (but these should have normalized on the restore to factory).

Yes check all options it's very strange because over FaceTime audio & mic operates with no issues. Only making a call over cellular has the issue. I tried a different SIM card but same thing. Thing is the call goes through pick up and all just no audio both ways so it's not an antenna issue. Baffling :( I was hoping someone had the same issue and resolved it.

If the physical UP/DOWN buttons do not work and also a factory restore does not normalize the settings, then the phone needs service. If you take it to the Apple Store, they may be able to upgrade firmware (they have done this for me), or they may wish to replace (maybe you have service warranty).
