Network Packet Broker Gigamon compared to VSS

Hi All,

Just wanted to check, does anyone have a comparison chart or white paper that compares Gigamon to VSS?

I have checked the several forums or links but can't seem to find any information.

There is a information from Gartner, but sadly I don't have a Gartner account.

Thanks for anyone who will address this.

Regards,
Ricardo

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You will not find that customised comparison btw these two specifically easily but thought this MQ (their first release) below may be some starter with closeness to these network packet broker though it is rather an indirect sensing of their respective pro/cons.
(see "Fluke Networks" that is related to VSS) and also on NPB
Vendors in the NPB space often partner and team up with NPMD and security vendors as a go-to-market strategy, resulting in marketing messages that can make it difficult to determine which tool is actually performing the monitoring (network performance monitoring or security) and which is facilitating the monitoring by managing the data to be monitored (network packet brokering). We have also seen an increasing number of acquisitions in this space. NetScout and Network Instruments, both of which are in this Magic Quadrant, pair NPBs and NPMD tools together in deals. Other popular NPB vendors include Gigamon, Ixia (Anue and Net Optics), VSS Monitoring, NetScout, JDSU-Network Instruments, Interface Masters Technologies, Apcon, Datacom, and switch provider Arista Networks.

I see it easier to engage their actual principal Presale team and have them come up with the comparison. They are likely more willing in exchange of a private session with you.  Can ref in 2012 Market Report: Intelligent Network Packet Brokers (see "Buying Considerations") for the factor to compare http://www.vssmonitoring.com/resources/pdf/ESG-Market-Report.pdf

But I say in each of then their uniqueness from their leading solution in
- VSS vBroker
e.g. vMesh that is equipped with vSpool to analyse synchronously or asynchronously by any network analytics, forensics and big data systems and vNetConnect that enables agent-free visibility into VMware and Cisco virtual switches to drill further into physical and virtual workloads; and
e.g. vInspector for SSL inspection
e.g.

- Gigamon VUE
e.g. Flow Mapping Technology that claims as "Right Data to the Right Tool" at all times
e.g. GigaSmart comprising of Packet Slicing / Masking, De-Duplication, Netflow Generation , L7 Packet Filtering etc towards meeting risk & compliance needs
e.g. It has a good summary in its Product Comparison Chart https://www.gigamon.com/sites/default/files/resources/datasheet/cc-gigamon-product-comparison-4001.pdf
