Limit number of ActiveSync devices that can attach to an Exchange 2010 server

Server 2008 R2
Exchange Server 2010

The default setting in Exchange 2010 is to allow up 10 Activesync devices to be connected.  I have located several articles that allow me to increase or decrease that number using Group Policy.  The problem is that this seems to be a global change that would affect everyone.

I have only a few problem children for whom I need to restrict the number of devices.  Is there some way that a Group Policy could be applied only to users in an AD Security Group?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

ActiveSync devices limit can be increased and decreased by only Throttling policies in Exchange itself. Create a new throttling policy and make required changes as below mentioned:

Policy Creation: New-Throttlingpolicy "Decreased ActiveSync Devices" -EasMaxDevices 5 -EasMaxConcurrency 5
Applying policy to specific mailbox: Set-Mailbox <mailbox name> -ThrottlingPolicy "Decreased ActiveSync Devices"

in case you want to increase or decrease limit in existing policy please run below powershell:

Set-Throttlingpolicy "Decreased ActiveSync Devices" -EasMaxDevices 10 -EasMaxConcurrency 10
