I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hello
I think that you should start with a big understanding of different components of a cloud infrastructure in general; types of clouds,...
in your case and that you want to start with labs i recommend using Cloud Open Source Softwares, like OpenStack, CloudStack, ..
But i think that you should start OpenStack: free , Big community , lot of features, and can support all kind of levels: you could start with IaaS artichecture then move to PaaS, then SaaS
https://www.openstack.org/software/
a big favourite is the RDO scripts which you can run on your CentOs machines and would require you no time to establish the private cloud on you machines with most configurations easily managed

and you if have any more questions, don't hesitate :)
