backup on notepad option

in this folder there are 9 files
C:\Users\Acer\AppData\Roaming\Notepad++\backup

I did not modify the standard windows 7 notepad++ backup options

but my notepad editor has 20 files
where are the missing 11 files

If I use radio button for 'backup on save'
would I lose the snapshot option

If you didn't modify a file, it will not appear in the Periodic Backup folder, so that may be why the other 11 are not there. Also, once you Save a file, it is removed from the Periodic Backup folder (but if you have Backup on Save configured, it will now appear in that folder as a .BAK file).

No. You may use both options, as shown in my screenshot at your other question. However, keep in mind that when you do a Save, the Periodic Backup file is removed, and the backed up file will now appear in the Backup on Save folder as a .BAK file.

You gain having a backup while you're editing and before you've done a Save. In other words, intermediate work — before having done a Save — is automatically protected every N seconds (7 seconds being the default). Regards, Joe
