Microsoft Exchange and Forefront TMG

We have a TMG (Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010) server in our environment which we would like to turn off.

As soon as we try to switch the server off, Outlook switches to "Trying to connect" intermittently and in the Connection Status (CTRL+Outlook icon in system tray) we get a number of failures in the Req/Fail column. The strange thing is that not everyone encounters this issue.

Our Environment: 2 Exchange 2013 servers (on Windows Server 2012) and 1 Exchange 2010 server (on Windows Server 2008). Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010 (on Windows Server 2008)

Any ideas as to what the issue can be and how to solve it?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You need to check that all of the URLs configured within Exchange are pointing directly at the Exchange server. Not all of them can be seen through the ECP, you have to look at the Shell.

If you have a proxy server, then check that the correct exclusions are in the proxy.
