Problem to "\n"

I do not know why the different column is not shown in separate lines, to the following text
CREATE TABLE `package_vg` (\n `id` bigint(20) unsigned NOT NULL default \'0\',\n `in_time` datetime default NULL,\n `in_by` varchar(45) default NULL,

as i expect one line feed would be inserted, to each "\n" in above, within the text editor.Problem

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

How did you create that string?

\n is only interpreted as a line feed when it is used by something that interprets it like that - it is not a general text convention.

Where did the string come from?
