Installing HP Firmware on a Blade BL460cG6

I have a C3000 Bade Enclosure with eight BL460Gc Servers therein attached to a SAN.  This was setup by a consultant and I now require rebuilding one of the Blade Servers with a vanilla Win 2008 R2 install.

What is best practice in terms of how I install the HP firmware after the OS is installed?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There's an HP Smart Update Manager CD you can use for some of the simplest and most safe firmware updates you'll find.   No worries about updating the blade to a FW level that's incompatible with the HBA, or whatever.

For ongoing management of Gen 8 and above blades and ProLiant servers, check out HP's OneView software, available in both a free and paid version.
