Catch mousedown event in dragsort

Hello,
I use https://dragsort.codeplex.com/
It does what I need.
But I need to catch mousedown (to call my function).
How do I do that?
p.s. They support dragEnd but it's not what I need.
Or do you have another package to recommend.
Thanks, Aryeh.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can try JQueryUI - it supports a dragStart event (http://api.jqueryui.com/draggable/#event-start)

Failing that can you not just bind a mouseDown event to your list items

$('.myitems').mousedown(function() ...);
