Excel 2010 macros compatible with Excel 2013

Hi

I'm presently installing a new system for a user (Lenovo Thinksation - Intel Xeon E5-1620 v3 3.5 GHz, 16 MB RAM)
This being a new machine I have ordered a Microsoft Office 2013

The user has suddenly announced that he wants to remain on Office 2010 because of the numerous Excel macros that he uses
He apparently believes that these won't function properly with the new version of Excel.

Is this true ? If so are there any tips to 'convert' these macros, or at least modify what needs to be modified for these to operate correctly under the new version of Excel ?

Incidentally, i nthe present circumstances, are we are allowed to install a previous version of Office ?

Any other considerations to take into account before I deliver this machine ?

Thanks
yann

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

He is mistaken. Excel 2013 can easily run macros that were built in Excel 2007 or 2010.

However, Excel is not very good at going in the other direction. For example, it is easy to develop macros in Excel 2013 that will not run in Excel 2007 or 2010.

I have Office 10, 12 and 14 on my PC and as long as you have a license I don't see a problem.
