Citrix 6.5 icon not showing up on client desktop

We have Citrix XenApp 6.5 on an internal server with Citrix Web Interface and Secure Gateway both residing on a web server in the dmz.   We are using the Citrix Receiver ver 4.0.1.4 on clients.

We created a published application and put a check mark in "Add shortcut to the client's desktop" in the "Shortcut presentation" properties screen, however this is not working and the icon never shows up.  What might I be missing in this configuration to get this to work?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Did you enabled settings on client side? Ref http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX136759

I would update the receiver to the latest version - there were issues with desktop integration in the earlier 4.x versions.

I just updated Citrix Receiver to the new version 4.2.100.14, but when I right-click the icon, I don't get a selection for "Options" or "Preferences" as referenced in the article http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX136759.  I just get an option for "Open" and when I click that, it wants me to input an email address or server address.  Is this option just if I am using Storefront instead of the Web Interface?

I think I'm getting somewhere how...I didn't have the xenapp services site configured.  Now I do and I'll try to insert the proper url in the "server address" prompt and see if that allows me to get the icon on the desktop...

This is working correctly now...the ultimate cause was I didn't have the xenapp services site configured...newbie problem!  Thanks!!

The 2 comments lead me to look closer at the client versions and how to get to the preferences or options for Citrix Receiver, but ultimately the solution in my case was to get the  xenapp services site configured correctly which, in turn, made the Citrix Receiver work properly.

Pittsford.. I am having a similar issue. I am on Citrix 6.5.. and when I create a published application.. lets say a test, and just have this point to internet explorer.. I am not seeing the published application when a user logs in, or any user for that matter. I am a newbie to Citrix, so this is a learning curve. Please could you point me in the right direction?

When you say Xenapp services site... is this a service that runs, or should be running on all citrix servers?

Thanks
