Need to Create New Profile and Move Old Profile Data Over, Temporary Profile Keeps Being Created.

I had an issue with a users outlook profile being corrupt. I created a new profile by naming the old on .old. Logged out and logged back in so it would allow me to use the new one and I could test users outlook. This fixed my issue. However it only creates a temporary profile so I logout and it deletes any changes. I need it to create a working profile while I move the stuff from the old one over. This is a windows 8.1 pc on a domain with active directory and such with roaming profiles. How do I get the pc from not creating the temp so I can create a new profile and move the info over easily without deleting when I logout? Please help.

See steps below...
You did not delete the profile correctly. The profile is logged referenced in the registry. So what you need to do is login to the machine and delete the registry entry that references the old profile.

 Do the following...
 - login to the machine (as your account)
 - open the registry
 - go to the following path HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ProfileList
 - in the right hand pane you will see a list of SID's
 - each SID represents a profile
 - click on each SID until you find the one that references the profile and then delete it

Once you have deleted this registry key you will then be able to create a new profile for this user.

I want to be able to move the information that's in the old profile. Is there any way of creating the new one without deleting the old one until I am sure all info I need to move is correct? I does it need to be completely deleted before it creates a new profile that will not be temporary?
