RAM issue


I have a new HP Z840 with 64g of RAM and Windows 8.1 pro 64.

My problem is only 32g of RAM is detected, how to fix this issue ?

I am assuming 8x8GB, right?
sounds like either four are a different type or bad.  Try re-seating all of the RAM chips first.
If that does not work look in BIOS to see if it recognizes all the chips.  If it does, then determine if it says they are identical.
Failing that you need to start with just 2 chips and see if they are read, then add 2 more until you uncover the issue.

It appears that this workstation will support dual CPU's from what I am seeing. How many do you have installed? If you only have one CPU and don't install the RAM in the proper DIMM's on this motherboard the RAM in the DIMM's for the second processor will not be recognized.
