Hosted Exchange 2010

My company and one of our business partners were both using hosted Exchange with a particular vendor. The business partner moved to a different hosted Exchange vendor a couple weeks ago; my company is still with the original vendor. Since the move, the business partner doesn't receive email from my company. We don't get delivery failures but the emails just never show up in their inboxes (or spam or junk). The business partner receives email successfully from all other domains. The MX records were updated properly as far as I can tell. The two vendors are pointing fingers at each other. Any advice?

ive heard of this before cant quite recall the cause and solution though.

have you tried message tracking from one of the exchange servers? this will shed some light. you need to rule out the mail delivery one first. id say check the event logs but thats hosted exchange!

I would raise it with the hosted exchange provider.

i believe this has something to do with both exchange servers or accounts being attached to the same domain and forest previously.

I contacted our hosted exchange provider about doing a trace on email going from my company to the business partner. Here's their reply: "Our Application Support Engineers were trying to supply me with the email traces that you had requested. Unfortunately, they can only supply the traces for inbound messages, such as inbound from external. They couldn't supply me with the traces for anything outbound. To sum it up, they were able to show me the recent messages you have received in your email, but they cannot supply me with the traces for outbound, for emails you sent out. I can give you the email traces for those, but you would like to have the ones of you sending to her, and from my Supervisor has advised to me is that those won't show up."

I find it hard to believe that they can't trace outbound email.
just ask for the logs from the 2nd hosted exchange provider, afaik this is correct you can only run them on inbound messages. it should show the rejection reason here or what exchange is doing with the email.
2nd hosted exchange provider doesn't even see the emails coming in to their system. It's like they just disappear.
1. what are the results of the message tracking when they run it? the 2nd hosted provider that is.

2. do they see the mails hitting there spam filter? usually these spam filters are on completely different wan sites and networks.
