USB 2.0

Hello,

I've been given a small project to complete and I need some clarification.
I have a computer running usb 2.0. Its going to connect to a label printer via usb. The printer will be approximately 85 feet away from the computer. From my research it looks like usb 2.0 starts loosing electrical/data signal at about 16feet. I'm assuming I need to purchase a few usb hubs, is that correct? So how many usb hubs would I need?  do I need to purchase all usb extension that are a max of 16 feet and stick a usb hub at the end of each cable?   is there other better solutions to this problem?  thank you for your input

I've noticed on ebay that there are usb extensions that are either 25, 50 or 75feet in length and have build in repeater chip.
I'm assuming these type of cables are not very reliable? is that correct?
Correct. 75 foot USB cables would not be reliable. That is why on eBay and not from a reputable vendor.
That is correct. That is why I recommended the usb over cat 5 extender. You can extend that all the way out to the maximum length of cat 5, which is around 300ft.
