           #region Create Instance
           //create new instance of XmlDocument
           XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument();
           #region Load the File
           //load from file
           XmlNodeList selectedManufacturer = doc.SelectNodes("//Product[not(Manufacturer=preceding-sibling::Product/Manufacturer)]");
           foreach (XmlNode xn in selectedManufacturer)
               string manufacturer = xn["Manufacturer"].InnerText.ToString();

Once you have the list of manufacturers you can call the Sort() method of the List to sort it alphabetically.

here you have to do x.Sort() before returning x.
