JSP call a method on a session attribute which is an object

This:
<%= session.getAttribute("tuser") %>
retults in ...
com.quinstreet.dms.commission.model.Tuser@21983b3a[userKey=45930]

Tuser has a getUserKey method.
How do I get the 45930 result. In other words how do I call getUserKey on this session attribute.

I've tried <%= session.getAttribute("tuser".getUserKey) %> and about a dozen other failed permutations.
I'm sure this must be super simple, but I've googled for hours now and have not found the solution.

Please try
<%@page import="com.quinstreet.dms.commission.model.Tuser"%>
<%=((Tuser)session.getAttribute("tuser")).getUserKey()%>
or you can try using EL
${tuser.userKey}
