Configuration Menu in Joomla

Hello Experts,

I have been configuring a web site using Joomla.

Can someone let me know how I can increase the width of the column shown in image?

Kind regards

I think you've got the wrong attachment. You might want to remove it.

And about your column problem:
1. check your theme settings for a column width setting or
2. modify css so the column is wider.

Both can be done only by yourself. We can't see how from an image.

Dan

Dan is correct in above answer... please refer to my answer in another question posted on image size by you...

the left menu is being allotted approx. 3 columns of space in the template. and is an ASIDE element.

The CSS shows it as #gkSidebarLeft and width is 26%

The main content is shown in section #gkMainbody and I did not find any width given to it in Firebug, so I guess it takes up whatever space is remaining after the 26% allotted to the left column.

so a way is to change the CSS or override it with below rule in your template CSS.

#gkSidebarLeft {
 width: 30% !important;
/* you can change 30% to whatever you feel ok */
}

Open in new window

Note: this will affect width on all pages.  OR if any width is given to the main content section in any CSS... may disturb your page layout... so check it and use if solving your problem.

an afterthought ....

the above rule will also affect the display in smaller devices as we use !important ...  so you need to check it and if its disturbing the layout in smaller resolutions, use a media query to make changes to it accordingly.
