Virtuemart vs WooCommerce?

I need to build eCommerce site using either Virtuemart  or WooCommerce.  I have only less than 50 products to put in and which one would be very secure and easy to setup to start ? Please advise.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Both are well-respected solutions.  The easiest one is the one you already know, but if you're completely new to this, the most popular for Joomla is Virtuemart.  The advantages of choosing a popular solution include (1) better security, (2) thorough debugging, (3) more community.

since you asked that you want to have a ecommerce website, both options you selected are addons of selling inatalled on CMS Joomla & Wordpress.

If you just want a simple store, without too many pages on information  or a CMS as base, then i would suggest you to go for Opencart ... it is very good and I have been using it for last 3-4 years...

it has all online shopping related things in place, many free extensions for further adding utilities.

the look and feel can be changed fairly easily if you have basic knowledge of HTML, CSS & PHP

I can help you in the basics in opencart.

thanks,
Prasadh
