SQL DAG across Clusters

We have two SQL Clusters in different Datacenters and would like to create a DAG for a specific database across them. Is this possible and if so how can we accomplish this?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes, quite easily... however, any node that would have a copy of the AlwaysOn Group would need to be a member of the Windows Cluster.

Essentially you would need to merge the two clusters into one and run the SQL DAG's only across the nodes you require.

In this instance you would need to create AG's for any mirrored or clustered databases already configured on the new cluster though.

You can setup sql server transactional Replicaton between databases over two different cluster.

You can't accomplish that with 2 clusters. It need to be a single cluster, even one of the nodes are in another local. Check for Regional Clusters. After that you'll be able to setup a DAG for the database.
Guy LidbetterCommented:
Sorry just reread my last statement there... you wouldn't need to create an AG for a mirrored DB, only the clustered ones.

Only the Windows need to be clustered. SQL Server should be stand alone installations in each node.
