Migrating DFS Name servers clusters. Breaking clusters verses rebuilding in the target

Migrating DFS Name servers clusters. Breaking clusters verses rebuilding in the target.
Hello,
I would like to get the best solution for migrating DFS name server. They are running in the SQL clusters and 2008 DFS version I believe.
Would you recommend building new clusters in the new forest or breaking up and migrating the existing name servers to the target domain?

If we have 2008 DFS in the source, would you recommend rebuilding the new one - 2012 or migrating the existing DFS. What are the benefits of each option and which one is less complex and less risky.

Thank you very much.

keeping the same forest and domains make user migration a non issue otherwise the # of users that have to be migrated may make a new forest/domain impracticable.

Hi,

i'm assuming your query relates to the file content of DFS rather than the namespaces themselves, is that correct?

if this is the case just move one of the servers to the new domain and setup the new namespaces etc using the existing shared folders & content. use this as a 'seed' server for a new DFS setup.

you are free to build brand new servers with 2012 and add them to this new namespace/replication group and let them pick up the content from the 'seed' server.
